Two Weird Planets Found Together When They Should Be Alone

Photo: NASA Hubble Space Telescope / Unsplash
Scientists discovered two strange planets orbiting the same star 190 light-years away from Earth, and this shouldn't be possible! One planet is a giant "hot Jupiter" [a huge planet that's super close to its star and extremely hot], and right next to it is a smaller "mini-Neptune" [a medium-sized planet made mostly of gas]. This discovery shows that planets can form in ways astronomers never thought were possible β kind of like finding two best friends who shouldn't logically get along!
