Massive Underground River of Melted Rock Nearly Erupted

Deep beneath a Portuguese island, a gigantic surge of melted rock called magma [super-hot liquid stone] rushed up from underground in 2022, shaking the ground with thousands of earthquakes! Scientists discovered this enormous blob of magma stopped just before it could burst through and create a volcano, making it a "failed eruption" that almost changed the island forever.
