Scientists think Venus used to have its very own moon, but the planet spins so slowly that it pulled the moon closer and closer over time. Instead of drifting away, the poor moon spiraled inward until it crashed right into Venus and became part of the planet! Imagine looking up at the night sky and seeing a planet eat its own companion.
