After ten years of dedicated care by horticulturalists, a rare plant at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens has flowered for the very first time. The spectacular bloom grew so quickly and reached such an impressive height of over 18 feet that staff safely removed greenhouse ceiling panels to allow it to reach its full potential.
