Scientists have discovered that a warming pool of tropical ocean water fueled massive snowstorms over East Antarctica, resulting in a net gain of 695 billion tons of ice between 2021 and 2023. This immense snowfall has effectively offset the equivalent of about four years of global annual ice loss, providing a welcome buffer for the polar region.
